Announcing a new project | Revive! – strengthening rural communities through libraries

Since July 1st, 2026, the Revive! project has officially started!

Revive! is an 18-month cooperation project bringing together partners from Latvia and Finland to strengthen rural communities through libraries and develop new ways of engaging and collaborating. Running until December 2027, the project is co-financed by the Interreg Central Baltic Programme and has a total budget of approximately €200,000

Revive! will develop and test a practical collaboration model that helps libraries engage citizens, build partnerships with cultural and creative professionals, and respond to local community needs. The model will be piloted in Cēsis, Latvia, and Porvoo, Finland, before being refined into an open-access guide for libraries and municipalities for a broader region.

The partnership is led by the Northern Dimension Partnership on Culture (NDPC) and includes Cēsis Municipality Central Library, the National Library of Latvia, the Finnish Library Association, and Porvoo City Library. Together, the partners will combine research, practical testing, and cross-border knowledge exchange to strengthen the role of libraries as trusted community hubs and drivers of local development.
