Recap of the #CultureForHealth Final Conference

From 7 to 10 June 2023, the final conference of #CultureForHealth took place and explored the intersection of Care, Culture, and Health, while also delving into the captivating myths and mysteries of Elefsina – the European Capital of Culture.

The two-year-long marathon for the #CultureForHealth project, focused on interdisciplinary bottom-up policy development, has successfully concluded. The project was co-funded by the European Commission and implemented by Culture Action Europe (the lead partner), Trans Europe Halles, Central Denmark Region, Centrul Cultural Clujean, and Društvo Asociacija. Throughout this journey, significant progress has been made, and valuable relationships have been forged.

During the #CultureForHealth conference, Vice-President of the European Commission Margaritis Schinas took the stage to deliver a keynote focused on the importance of supporting cross-sectorial work between health and culture at the European level.

Vice-President Schinas also referred to the European Commission’s recently adopted Comprehensive Approach to Mental Health, as well as the Commission’s launch of the European Mental Health Capacity-Building Initiative worth 11 million euros to support Member States in building capacity for an approach that promotes mental health across all policies.

During the conference the NDPC has also been excited to implement a workshop on the #TalkingPoints guide we recently launched together with NDPHS Northern Dimension Partnership in Public Health and Social Well-being. We were also glad to meet NDPHS at the Beyond the Obvious accommodated “Handle with Care: Projects Agora” with the “The Arts on Prescription in the Baltic Sea Region” (funded by Interreg Baltic Sea Region) project in which we are also associated partners.
